Germany defeated France 1-0 in the quarterfinals of the World Cup on Friday to advance to the semifinals. It is their fourth straight World Cup semifinals, which is a record. It's also the third straight World Cup that France was eliminated by Germany. Germany will face the winner of Brazil versus Colombia. 

Mats Hummels scored for Germany in the 13th minute of play with a header off of a free kick.

German goalkeeper Manuel Neuer made a crucial save in the last seconds of extra time to preserve the 1-0 win.
