Heading into the 2nd period of Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final, the New York Rangers were down 1-0 on the scoreboard and 3-1 in the series to the Los Angeles Kings. A power play goal and a shorthanded goal sent the Rangers into the second intermission with a 2-1 lead.

Chris Kreider scored his 5th goal of the playoffs (3rd PPG) on the power play after Dwight King carelessly high sticked Mats Zuccarello. He was set up with a nice pass by Ryan McDonagh to tie the game.

Late in the period, Dominic Moore was called for a questionable penalty. With less than a minute left in the second period, the Rangers got a shorthanded goal after the great work of penalty killers, Carl Hagelin, and a fantastic shot by Brian Boyle.
