The final spot in the men's quarterfinals at the US Open was filled on Tuesday night when Roger Federer defeated Roberto Bautista Agut, 6-4, 6-3, 6-2. Federer will face Gael Monfils in the quarterfinals. Monfils defeated Grigor Dimitrov earlier Tuesday in the seemingly unbearable, unseasonable heat and humidity of New York City in September. Monfils has not dropped a set in the entire tournament.
The other men's quarterfinals include Marin Cilic against Tomas Berdych, Stan Wawrinka against Kei Nishikori, and the perhaps the most anticipated match: world number 1 Novak Djokovic against Andy Murray.
Wawrinka won the Australian Open earlier this year, while Nishikori played into the early morning hours in his round of 16 match against Milos Raonic. The match between the two tied the latest ever finish in US Open history, concluding at 2:26 am with Nishikori's five set victory.
