6th-seeded Petra Kvitova and 30th-seeded Venus Williams played an epic third round match on Friday at Wimbledon. After Venus took the first set 5-7, Kvitova won the second in a tiebreaker to send it to a third match.

Kvitova, won Wimbledon in 2011, finally broke the five-time Wimbledon champion in the third set to take the set and match 7-5. The match statistics can be seen here. It was over two and a half hours and the pace, quality, and style of play was compared to the men's game. The serving in particular was exquisitie.

Kvitova had six aces in the third set, including these two in a row to win a game in the third set:

First one

Second ace

There were few long rallies due to the excellent service games, but when there were, they were exciting as well, such as this break of Kvitova's serve after covering a lot of ground in 16 shots in one rally:

Here is match point for Kvitova:

Kvitova will face Shuai Peng in the round of 16.
