In honor of the America's birthday on this Fourth of July, I will post GIFs from the fantastic game between the US and Russia from the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. It was the game known for the prolonged shootout in which TJ Oshie took six of the American team's eight shootout attempts. Via the Sochi 2014 website, here are the results of the shootout:

The USA ended up winning 3-2. In regulation, Pavel Datsyuk had both of Russia's goals while Joe Pavelski and Cam Fowler had USA's goals. Jonathan Quick was in net for the USA. Oshie still enjoys fame for the win despite it being in the preliminary round and despite the fact that the US was eventually eliminated early on, so the shootout win was essentially meaningless. But at the time, it was thrilling, and we will re-live it now as if it lives up to all the glory of Fourth of July patriotism.
